Carpenters worked with wood like today. They were essential in the construction of buildings. In fact they had to make posts, beams, wooden floors, doors and windows as well as forniture and items udes during daily life. They were very skilled and they were usually considered to be elite artisans. To be considered a carpenter a person had to join a guild as an apprentice which had to learn how to use the tools.Basic knoledge of math were required, too. King and nobles used to keep some of the best craftsmen for themselves to furnish castles and estades, as a proof of theur prestige. Master carpenters was always requested and usually earns high wages.
